Acousta Shield Sound Absorptive Wall

Acousta Shield Sound Absorptive Wall

The Carsonite Composites AcoustaShield Sound Absorptive Wall System is a revolutionary development in noise containment. AcoustaShield is perfect for highways, mass transit lines, crowded residential roads, and scenic areas where vehicle noise is a factor. The AcoustaShield system uses fiberglass insulation to absorb sound. Modular lightweight design, Easy installation without a heavy crane, Naturally fire resistant, Withstands harsh weather and corrosive elements, Heights up to 28 feet (8.5 m), Available in virtually any color or color combination, Low maintance. Repairs after vehicle impact can be made year-round, without large lifting equipment or concrete pouring and with minimal traffic diversion.

The Carsonite Sound Barrier shall consist of stacked tongue-and-groove structural planks. The planks shall be comprised of a glass reinforced thermoset composite structural shell. The shell shall also be modified to create an open face of approximately 30% and filled with sound absorbing material to increase NRC performance. Absorptive planks shall be interchangeable with Carsonite’s standard unfilled planks or Carsonite’s filled planks to optimize sound abatement as required.

The plank’s fill material shall be comprised of sound absorbing fiberglass insulation with a serviceable temperature range of -40 degrees F to 450 degrees F

The maximum nominal width of planks filled with absorptive fill shall be fifteen feet. The width of wall shall be specified on each order. The tongue and groove sound barrier planks shall be available in nominal heights at six-inch increments. The sound barrier plank shall have an overall thickness, measured on the plank ends, of 2.375" maximum. The filled sound barrier wall shall be between 3.5 pounds per square foot and 4 pounds per square foot.

Carsonite's Sound Wall

Carsonite's Sound Wall

The Carsonite Composites AcoustaShield Sound Barrier System is a revolutionary development in noise containment, with the added environmental benefit of recycling discarded tires. AcoustaShield is perfect for highways, mass transit lines, crowded residential roads, and scenic areas where vehicle noise is a factor. The AcoustaShield system uses scrap rubber as filler for tongue and groove boards that are engineered of fiberglass reinforced polymer composite. The lightweight design (only 7.5 pounds per square foot) requires no heavy lifting equipment for installation and minimal traffic diversion to repair it. More effective than concrete, metal, or wood, and much better looking. Exceeds AASHTO and DOT sound-wall guidelines. Modular, lightweight design, Easy installation without a heavy crane, Naturally fire resistant, Withstands harsh weather and corrosive elements, Provides positive use for unwanted, waste tires, Heights up to 28 feet (8.5 m), Available in virtually any color or color combination, Low maintance. Repairs after vehicle impact can be made year-round, without large lifting equipment or concrete pouring and with minimal traffic diversion.

Simply put, Carsonite Composites’ AcoustaShield Sound Barrier delivers more noise reduction per square foot per dollar than any other comparable concrete, wood or metal sound wall. It looks better, installs the easiest, lasts longer and gives you the best value for your noise reduction investment.

AcoustaShield installs four times faster than concrete, wood or metal sound walls. It requires no expensive heavy lifting equipment to install or repair. The result is less cost, less mess and less time your highways need to be shut down for construction. If an AcoustaShield Sound Barrier is impacted by an out of control vehicle, it can be repaired year-around.

AcoustaShield not only looks great when installed, it continues to look great year after year... unlike concrete, wood or metal walls which deteriorate, becoming eyesores in just a few years. Concrete, wood and metal walls cannot be used in: (1) difficult terrain (because heavy equipment can’t reach the area) or (2) on bridges without costly structural work. Carsonite AcoustaShield, on the other hand, can be installed virtually anywhere and at any time of the year. Use it wherever you need it. For maximum sound mitigation, AcoustaShield can be ordered filled with shredded crumb rubber from recycled tires. AcoustaShield is so environment-friendly that it won the Federal Highway Administration’s Environmental Award of Excellence for Innovation for its contribution to helping deal with this country’s growing scrap tire problem. Filling a Carsonite AcoustaShield wall with crumb rubber enhances the sound transmission qualities of the wall and recycles more than 21,000 scrap tires for every mile constructed.
